Consumer Reports has just named the iPhone best smartphone. While this no doubt frosts the few remaining haters, it’s further evidence that not just “fanboys” think Apple has done a great job here.
Phrases like “best choice for multimedia use” are the touchstone of Consumer Reports’ praise for the iPhone.
We all know the iPhone isn’t perfect. But endorsements by countless blogs, websites, “Time Magazine,” “Consumer Reports” and others are certainly strong indicators it ain’t all that bad either.

Holy crap what a bunch of flaming hypocrites…
Check this out from them when the iPhone was released:
And after all that, they go back on it and call it the best smartphone? How many people didn’t buy it based on their initial FUD?
Damn that’s infuriating.
Must have been a new sheriff in CR land Vinny LOL!
Well, we went from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, which refined the phone. It may of been enough for CR to change their mind. Now a few more to put in full-fledge Bluetooth and fix the GPS/Firewire/Radio accessories, and it’ll be full of awesome.
But I have to nitpick on one this. s/Hearts/Lubs/
Indeed. And thankfully, he shot the old one.
Vinny, thanks for reposting that review. I remember it as so many others. Many people have fowl this time of year… Let’s hope crow taste as good as Turkey. LOL !
Well-said, Daniel.
First, I love my iPhone, it’s the best out there.
But, after 6 months and three updates there are a couple of things that bug me:
Each update said that volume level was increased. It wasn’t. I still can’t hear the phone when it’s in my pocket and the vibration is very weak.
No new or improved functions in 6 months except the iTunes WiFi store button.
Still can’t send a picture message like every other cellphone in the universe.
I refuse to hack my iPhone, I use it as it was intended, sorry, that’s just the way I am. I am hoping there will be something new announced at Macworld, but not holding my breath. Any new functions might wait till June and the Developers Kit.
