AT&T announced a new unlimited voice plan for wireless (including iPhone) customers. Priced at $99.99 per month, the new plan kicks in February 22nd. iPhone customers will still have to pay AT&T $20 monthly in addition to the $99.99 for the AT&T data plan. No contract extension is required to use the new plan.
AT&T requires visiting company-owned retail stores and kiosks, or an authorized AT&T retail locations, or call AT&T’s customer service line (800-331-0500) to upgrade.

I was pleasantly surprised that AT&T reacted so quickly to Verizon’s pricing actions. Clearly all the groundwork was already in be place at AT&T - particularly on the systems side of things. Having worked at AT&T on the landline side for many years, changes to the billing system were always the most challenging - you can’t afford to be wrong.
I am really liking the how nimble AT&T wireless is behaving and how common sense they are being about things. The fact that you can change plans without having to extend the contract, upgrading to the 16GB phone without extending the contract, the way the responded to SMS detailed bill problems - all good to see. The shift that I’m seeing is that AT&T Wireless is getting positioned to keep customers because they want to stay - not because they have to stay. That shift in their thinking about relationships with customers is significant.
Press release says this does NOT include smartphones or the iPhone
Joe you misread the release. That part of the press release talks about DATA plans.
I called about this and it is only for individual plans. They said for a family plan it would be $99/phone. With 4 phones in the family that’s way too much.
