The last two stores in the country that have iPhones for tomorrow morning:

I’d say if you don’t have one by now, you’d better resign yourself to the fact that ordering online might be the only way to go…

Some AT&T stores still have them. I decided to pull the trigger today (don’t ask about the delay, coverage issues). My two local stores and one an hour await each had multiple 4 gigs available. They advised that they would not receive anymore 8 gigs until they sold out. (One other store an hour away advised that they had iPhones in stock, but they weren’t allowed to tell me which model.)
This may be due to a lack of shipments on July 4th. Expect a rebound shortly.
A couple of words to the wise. If a store shows up as green, this can mean that they have an order coming in that morning. On Tuesday I showed up at the Manhattan Beach Store and they had given out numbers to the First 25 in line at 8:00 am. They only expecting 21 phones. At 9:00 when store opened there were around another 90 in line excluding the original 25.
wowhow many iPhones sold all together
The Apple Store in Des Moines, Iowa has them, though they ran out of 8GB units again today (the 4th).
I stopped into the Apple Store here in Tucson and, while they were out of 8GB phones, they had the 4GB edition on hand - and were gloating that THEY were one of the only stores with stock. (I’m not certain why they would be pleased to not have sold out… It seems almost un-American and on the 4th of July no less
)
Don’t let a traffic light on a web page keep you from calling your store to get the Real Deal.
people are still waiting in line ?

… well, I needed it.
The red/green dots on Apple’s “in stock” page is deceiving but also clear in that a store might not have stock they may get in more each day. Tuesday night after 9pm all Missouri and Colorado stores were listed in red. I called each Wednesday morning and although they were out of 8GB models they had a few to many 4GB units. They must be reporting what they have left each night but most are getting more (atleast a few) the following morning.
I live in the washington dc area and called a store in Maryland that was listed as being all out and they had both the 8 gig and 4 gig models. I talked to the salesperson there and told him about how the store was listed as being sold out and he said a lot of shipments are still coming in to the stores.
