Outgoing Apple Phone Show Producer

As you may have heard if you have been following me on Twitter, I am leaving the staff of the Apple Phone Show. I’m moving on to work on a new project and it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I didn’t feel right about not being able to give the Apple Phone Show its due attention in the coming months, so with that I bid all of you adieu.

I wanted to take this chance to thank all of you. Each and every one of you have made doing this more fun than I ever even thought it would be, but I felt the need to make a few personal thank yous…

To Scott:
You’ve been nothing but great to me since day one. It’s been a pleasure working for you and despite the hecklers, haters, and occasional trolls, your passion for what you do makes every episode worth listening to. It’s been a fun ride working on the Apple Phone Show and the former incarnation of the iLifeZone and I feel blessed to have had the experience.

To Liana:
Thanks for being a friend. I expect great things from you in our new media world with Girls Gone Geek and iLifeZone, not to mention your work here. I’m looking forward to keeping in touch and seeing what you have in store for us.

To Greg:
It’s been fun working with you behind the scenes. Even though we didn’t exactly work “together,” it was nice having the show at the same time each week so I could schedule time and know I’d be working on the show at a set time each week. Good luck!

To Chris and Andy:
Thanks for helping Scott put together one of the most entertaining, down to earth, and “real” podcasts out there. There are a lot of iPhone podcasts, but only one Apple Phone Show and without you guys, it just wouldn’t be the same.

To all the readers / listeners:
You guys are the best. A bunch of snarky wiseguys sitting in the comments waiting for us to slip up!

Alright, I’m just kidding. Seriously, without you all, we wouldn’t be able to do what we’ve done and accomplish what we’ve accomplished. I absolutely appreciate each and every one of you and thank you for keeping the comment section on each post lively, interesting, entertaining, and informative. Thank you for keeping me on my toes in my time here.

This is my last post, but I will still pop into the comments every now and again. I look forward to chatting with you all in the future and thanks again for everything!

Most people take earbuds for granted. In fact, they usually spend more time complaining about them than using them. For me, it’s been an uphill battle. Why? Because I have ridiculously small ear canals meaning all but the tiniest buds don’t stay in. For a long time I’ve been using a set of Sony MDR-NC6 headphones. Noise canceling. Inexpensive. They had it all. And from now on, they’re going to be sitting on my desk because the V-Moda Vibe Duo will be coming with me everywhere.

Google on Wednesday announced a pretty nifty unification of its mobile services and, for the most part, they make browsing on the iPhone a pleasure.

Let’s take it feature by feature.

Apple quietly released firmware version 1.1.2 into the wild last night as a direct download. The changes are very minor, including a patch for the bug that allowed Jailbreakme.com to work (the TIFF Exploit), some language and keyboard packs being added, a bit of reorganization in the ringtone screen, and an iPhone battery indicator in iTunes on the desktop next to your iPhone in the Sources list.

Nothing huge, but if you want to keep up to date, go grab it.

Note: This will break third party apps, so if you’re into that great iPhone as a Light Saber app or you really really enjoy Yahtzee, you may want to hold off on doing this update until the hacks are updated appropriately. By the time you read this, the update should be available in iTunes (as of last night it was only available via direct download).

Since we started the Apple Phone Show, we’ve been told by skeptic after skeptic how European users aren’t going to buy into the iPhone hype. Yep, we stupid Americans may be totally in love with the device, but a sophisticated European phone user won’t accept an overpriced hunk of American silicon with a contractual obligation of two years and no 3G data.

Here we are on the eve of the launch in the UK, and there’s plenty of buzz to be had, but there’s one thing missing that was quite prominent a few short months ago.

The haters.
