There’s a shortage of DRAM and NAND (flash) memory chips. Want to know why? You guessed it. The iPhone!
According to Mac NN the iPhone is at least partially to blame.
Sorry…can’t help it if everyone wants the COOL phone!
This kind of news must just be killing the nay-sayers. There are SO many people hoping the iPhone fails, and every week we get more news that indicates just the opposite outcome.

Talk about stopping traffic. . . The iPhone made a very brief but tantalizing visit at CTIA Wireless 2007 in Orlando, Florida this week.
During his Tuesday morning keynote speech, AT&T Chief Operating Officer Randall Stephenson set the room afire by holding up a small object and saying, “It’s the new Apple iPhone. In fact, I have one right here.”
It was only about 30 seconds of iPhone glory, but reports from the show floor are that the iPhone was the only thing people talked about for the next two hours.

Sorry nay-sayers - the iPhone is scalding hot. Cingular/AT&T says it’s already received more than one million iquiries about the iPhone.
According to a Reuters news article, even though Cingular/AT&T isn’t taking pre-orders, more than one million people left their contact info on a web page asking if prospects would like to be notified of the iPhone’s availability.

It was bound to happen. And it has. Ebay is reporting that dozens of people fell victim to a scam surrounding iPhone sales. You’d think people would be smart enough to know that when someone is selling a product that hasn’t yet hit store shelves it’s a scam.
In case any of you are tempted - do NOT buy an iPhone on Ebay until AFTER it’s been released. Nobody can sell you an Apple iPhone today. Nobody.

It’s official. At least if you believe this report. Google says it’s NOT building an iPhone clone.
I talked about the rumor last week and said it wasn’t very realistic.

While the nay-sayers are out there, I believe the iPhone will do very well. Unlike some pundits, I don’t think Apple has anything on the immediate horizon to worry about when it comes to iPhone look-alikes or knock-offs.
But the real challenge for Apple will come from their decision to use Cingular/AT&T as the phone carrier.
While it may be unrelated, Verizon is about to launch an aggressive campaign aimed at proving its network is the best.

The short answer is - you bet. Based on research I’ve done, Apple has filed 201 different patent applications that apply specifically to the iPhone. Take this fact in combination with the fact that Steve Jobs specifically mentioned in the Macworld keynote that Apple would protect their IP associated with the phone, and you get the answer to the question.
I predict that Apple will file more patent-related lawsuits in association with the iPhone than it has with any other product.
